Episode 21: The Evolving Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Radiology

In this episode we interview Hari Trivedi, M.D., an Attending Radiologist and AI Researcher at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Trivedi describes how he splits his time between AI research and his clinical practice specializing in Emergency and Trauma Imaging. He describes the current main applications of AI in radiology and how the role of AI has continued to evolve into becoming a tool for aiding radiologists. He also describes the main ongoing research projects in the Healthcare Innovation and Translational Informatics Lab, where he is a Co-Director. Lastly, Dr. Trivedi gives an overview of some of the challenges of bringing AI technology into the healthcare system, including FDA approval, obtaining reimbursement, and adoption of AI applications by hospital systems.
